The story, continued

Finally I was able to put strings back on the instrument. I had purchased the appropriate gauges of brass wire from Lutz Bungart at The Instrument Shop in Ashland, Oregon, and had a couple sizes in my harpsichord wire stock. The stringing went well, with no strings breaking and no loops slipping.

One tuning pin that I had set too tight and tried to back out using the tuning wrench—like I would do on the harpsichord—got it’s head sheared off, though. Live and learn. I am awaiting the replacement tuning pin from the harp maker.

I have tuned the harp every day since December, and it is holding the pitch rather well. Now I wish I could play it better ... or at all …
