I removed all the strings and tuning pins, which were slightly rusted. Cleaning the tuning pins was easy enough with a wire brush and some steel wool. I kept all the strings, in the right order, for reference.

It turned out later that I would have to re-use the lowest string, since I found that size wasn’t easily available to buy.
